Meet Dez

Mission

My mission is to support children in developing confidence, safety, and joy in the water through a child-led, responsive approach. I believe that swimming lessons are an opportunity not only to build essential skills, but also to nurture independence, emotional regulation, and trust in their own bodies.

By combining movement, play, and mindful connection, I aim to create a positive foundation for lifelong learning — in and out of the water.

Roots

With a background in early childhood education, I tailor each lesson to meet children where they are — respecting their pace, honoring their communication, and helping them feel both safe and capable.

Across each role I’ve held, my focus has stayed the same: honoring how we learn, connect, and grow best.

As a swim instructor, I’ve worked with babies, toddlers, and advanced young swimmers, using movement, play, and body awareness to help them feel safe and confident in the water.

I’ve supported children with autism as a behavioral therapist, building trust through individualized, sensory-aware support.

In Early Learning, Montessori and Hebrew school classrooms, I helped create calm, respectful spaces that followed each child’s rhythm and independence.

Each of these experiences taught me to lead with care, patience, and respect — meeting children where they are, and helping them grow from there.

Certifications

I hold certifications in CPR and AED for infants, children, and adults, along with Level 1 Safety-Care behavioral safety training. I held a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) certification and continue to use the principles and skills I developed through that training in my current work. I have completed mandated reporter training and maintain all required clearances, including FBI, state background, and child abuse checks.

These certifications reflect my commitment to safety, professionalism, and attuned, responsive care in every setting.
